Harnessing the elements of its Bayside setting, our proposal for The Esplanade reflects its edge condition, set between the urban and a body of water. The collection of 6 dwellings are a rationalised arrangement of living spaces that respond to its setting, enhanced with a set of dynamic functions that allow the adaption to climate, elements, time of day and use.

Like a driftwood-wrapped sandcastle, materiality celebrates the setting at the water’s edge. The adaptable screen of timber battens is a result of observation and careful considerations for the occupant and their interface with the urban realm and aspect.
